Fixed Reconstructions - New Materials |
Recent research have made possible the use of Zirconium® in dental reconstructions. Zirconium® is already used for artificial hips , heat protection shields on spacecraft and as brake material for sports cars.
Depending on the diagnosis we use two different kinds of porcelain:
- in less stressed areas of the jaw we use Empress®, small bridges ( up to three units) , repairs of defects in the cervicular region of the tooth ( the ‘neck’ of the tooth), inlays and veneers are made of this material.
- Zirconium oxide is a harder material and is used for larger bridges, in the molar region etc. – the frames are cut by computer guidance but the pieces are manually finished - a High-Tec procedure, which until now has been prohibitive in cost.
