  Orthodontics - Removable Apparatus

Usually employed for children as well as  in preparation for treatment with fixed braces.
There  are active and passive removable braces.
Active  removable  normally consist of a polymer base with clamps and elements for manipulation (expansion screws/ uprighting springs). The clamps serve to fasten the braces to the teeth, the elements of movement distend the jawbone or correct the mal-positioned tooth.

Passive removable use functional or latent body  forces. These apparatus lie loosely in the mouth as they do not have clamps.  They serve to train the musculature.

Manufactoring procedure:

  1. Impression of maxilla and mandible
  2. Plaster casts
  3. Modelling of  basis on the casts
  4. Polishing and finishing
