Porcelain inlays are manufactured in the dental lab and attached to the tooth with specially developed biological glue. The remaining substance of the tooth is reinforced by their application.

Advantages:

• Highest aesthetics
• Very similar characteristics to that of the tooth enamel
• Extreme durability
• Applicable in cases of minimal tooth defects

Disadvantages:

• Not everywhere applicable – e. g. when the border of the excavation reaches under the gum line                  
• Fragile, if not exactly fitted
• More complex manufacturing procedure: inlays must be fashioned in the dental lab from impressions.
