  Surgery - Impacted Teeth

Impacted teeth are teeth which for some reason have not succeeded in breaking through and are still in the jawbone. This most often occurs with canine or wisdom teeth and can lead to infections and serious damage to neighbouring teeth.
If possible, the aesthetically important tooth must be trained to its anatomically correct position in the arch. The impacted tooth is surgically exposed and a brace is attached by means of which the tooth is trained into its proper position. ( see also under link ‘ Orthodontics’ ). If this proves impossible, the impacted tooth must be extracted.

Extraction of impacted teeth

The jawbone is opened with rotating bits cooled by physiological saline solution, the
impacted tooth or remnant roots extracted. The wound is then closed by suture which can be removed within a few days.
The missing bone regenerates itself in the following months (see menu link ‘Plasma’).
